Rose Albert

Rose Albert, Koyukon Athabascan, was born in a house boat along the Nowitna River, which flows into the Yukon River.

She was raised some 40 miles downriver from Ruby, Alaska, which is an interior Alaska community. Ruby was established as a supply point for the gold miners in the 1900's. It now marks the halfway point on the northern route for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.

Rose's creativity began at an early age: she started drawing in the first grade and then painted in oils in junior high school. At age 19, Rose was inspired by an oil painting of her great grandfather, Big William Demoski. "I love to paint

portraits of people of different races because people reflect the beauty of different cultures and I feel as if I'm keeping their images alive through my oil paintings of them." She earned an associate of fine arts degree from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1981.

Today, Rose carves and paints cedar boxes with ravens, eagles, caribou and moose with beaded Athabascan floral designs around the panel of the boxes. AMBIT staff have worked with her to establish her eCommerce page and reach customers around the world.

Tip of the Week

Using the photo albums feature of the AMBIT business portal can be a great way to quickly give your page a new look and keep your content fresh.

Photo albums allow you to create collections of uploaded photos to display together on your page. These photos allow your customers to have a richer experience on your page, by showing the variety of products or services you offer. You can use photo albums to tell the story

of how a particular item is made from raw materials to finished product. Showing the work and time dedicated to manufacturing the product can demonstrate value to your customers.

If you have seasonal items, you can organize your products into seasonal albums that can be easily changed throughout the year. The How To... section below goes over setting up photo albums for your page.
